Have your voice heard!

Connect with other young carers

You are the expert in what it’s like to be a young carer. This network empowers you to speak out about what’s important for you and other young carers. You can also develop new skills and improve your self-confidence. There are lots of opportunities for you to have a real influence on things that matter to you. The Speak Out Young Carers (SOYC) group has been involved with
  • Planning and attending our annual schools conference
  • Talking to Bath and North East Somerset Council about their Young Carer Strategy
  • Helping The Carers' Centre decide how to run it's services
  • Fundraising for young carer activities

Members have also had the opportunity to get experience that builds confidence and can be included on CV's.

Who can access SOYC?

Speak Out Young Carers is open to any young carer registered with the Carers' Centre. It doesn't matter how old you are - your voice is important and you are welcome to join! If you would like more information please contact Anne Marie on info@banescarerscentre.org.uk or 0800 0388 885

Frequently asked questions

Here's some answer to common questions about SOYC.

Currently Speak Out Young Carers meets every other month either in person at The Carers' Centre in Bath or online.

Of course! You are welcome to one of our meetings just to see what happens and meet the other young carers who are involved. If you like it, you can carry on coming. If it's not for you, that's fine too.

All you need to do is email Anne-Marie on info@banescarerscentre.org.uk or ring 0800 0388 885 and we'll give you all the information you need to get involved. We'd be really happy to see you at one of our sessions!

Of course! We know it can be difficult to fit everything in sometimes. You don't need to come to every session we have - you are welcome to as many as you are able to attend.

I'm really sorry but we can't provide transport at the moment. However, some of our sessions do take place online for those who aren't able to get to The Carers' Centre. In the future, we might also be able to offer transport, so if you can't get to us right now please do still let us know you're interested in attending!
