Gillian Austen

Dr Gillian Austen has ten years’ experience working in the higher education sector, supporting the implementation of the regulatory framework. She is a published academic author with two books and numerous articles and chapters in textbooks to her name. She now works part-time at SGS College in Bristol, as part of the HE quality and standards team.
Alongside those professional activities she has worked for over thirty years as a freelance editor and writer. She continues to work as a professional editor, and now specialises in supporting business owners with neurodiverse conditions such as dyslexia and ADHD with their written tasks.
Gillian is a full-time carer and she has a personal commitment to supporting The Carers’ Centre. From her personal experience as a user of its services, and her expertise in working within a highly regulated environment, she brings highly relevant understanding and skills to the Board.
